The Alumni Association proudly supports Affinity and Interest Groups to connect alumni with unique backgrounds and experiences. Members serve and lead the these groups which currently include the Black Alumni Council, Veterans Alumni Council, and Young Alumni Council. Affinity Groups meet regularly to plan activities and programs for their constituencies. With the BAC Richard T. Greener Scholarship and the VAC Salute to Service Scholarship, not only do these groups connect and strengthen the alumni community, but are heavily involved in the support of students. We encourage you to connect and get involved with an Affinity Group today!
For 40 years, the Association's Black Alumni Council has worked to encourage black UofSC graduates to be involved in every aspect of the alumni community. Connecting with fellow Gamecocks, joining the Association, and advocating for the university together enrich the experience of all Gamecocks.
Many veterans are unaware of the resources available to them through higher education. The Veterans Alumni Council (VAC) council will help peers find funding to pursue advanced degrees and connect them to businesses looking for highly-skilled people. The VAC will also be a conduit for other assistance such as locating housing and other Veteran’s Administration benefits. VAC organizers want to create healthy conversations about PTSD and the veteran suicide epidemic.
