Jay Pinckney is an alumnus of the College of Arts and Sciences, and as a biological sciences professor, he's a recipient of a 2021 Breakthrough Leadership in Research award.
His research focuses on the working of coastal ecosystems, with much of his work in the Lowcountry and Grand Strand of South Carolina.
Pinckney's work at the Baruch Institute has afforded the opportunity to work with and mentor students and fellow scientists. He's researched the healthy North Inlet ecosystem, which offers a baseline and lets researchers better understand what happens to a sick ecosystem.
