UofSC alumna charts her own course toward public health

2021 global studies graduate Raphaela O'Connor has always been attuned to how her environment affects her health.

As a child, she spent time in the hospital due to her severe allergic asthma, and that time, along with volunteer work and research about diseases led to her passion for public health.

O'Connor's global studies degree helped her learn what she wanted to do and gave her a view of public health beyond hard sciences. Next, she will pursue a public health graduate degree from Columbia University.
