Spurs Up Sprint

The Spurs Up Sprint is a virtual race with all proceeds going to benefit student scholarships.

Register between February 1 and March 31 to run or walk a 1-mile fun run, 5K, 10K or half marathon. Family-friendly and open to everyone, you can run anytime during the month of March and submit your mileage and time.

ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIP FUND

All proceeds from the Spurs Up Sprint will support student scholarships. Donate to our general fund or choose a fund that means the most to you.

HOW TO GET YOUR SWAG

You can have your swag shipped to you for $10, and it will be shipped in early May.

Or, you can pick up your pack at the Pastides Alumni Center. Pickup is on May 3 and 4 from noon to 6 p.m.

Because this event is a fundraiser for student scholarships, we are avoiding ordering a surplus of race shirts. Registration closes March 31, and we will place the shirt order the first week of April.

 

HOW TO RECORD YOUR PARTICIPATION

Upon registration, you will receive an automated email with the race info, a digital race bib, and a link to the form where you will record your race time, distance and date you ran or walked.

 

PRIZES

One participant from each distance will be randomly selected to win a gift card to Barefoot Outfitters! Winners will be contacted by email and phone and announced in the April 2021 alumni newsletter.

    Who can run/walk the Spurs Up Sprint?

    Everyone! You, your mom, cousin, son, neighbor—we'll even allow Clemson fans (just don't tell Cocky)!

    Is the race in Columbia?

    No, the 2021 race is virtual. You can run or walk it in Columbia, across the U.S. or anywhere in the world!

    How do I get my race pack?

    You have two options to get your race pack:

    1. Pay for $10 shipping, and it will be shipped in early May.

    2. Pick up your race pack at the Pastides Alumni Center (900 Senate Street, Columbia, SC 29201) Monday, May 3 or Tuesday, May 4 from noon - 6 p.m. EDT. There are no exceptions.

    What do I get in my race pack?

    For the 1-mile fun run: A race shirt and digital race bib.

    For the 5K: A race shirt, digital race bib and the following UofSC Alumni items: pennant and rally towel.

    For the 10K: A race shirt, digital race bib and the following UofSC Alumni items: pennant, rally towel and cup.

    For the half marathon: A race shirt, digital race bib and the following UofSC Alumni items: pennant, rally towel, cup and rocks glass.

    What does the registration fee go toward?

    All revenue from your race registration goes to support UofSC student scholarships!

    Are there first, second and third place prizes?

    Because race distance and time are based on the honor system, we will not have traditional prizes for first, second and third place finishers. Instead, one winner from each distance (1-mile fun run, 5K, 10K, and half marathon) will be randomly selected to win a Barefoot Outfitters gift card!

    What are the rules for the social media contest?

    Get decked out in your best Gamecock gear and your digital race bib.

    Take photos before and/or after your run/walk. Post your photos on social media, tag us @uofscalumni and use #SpursUpSprint. The participant in the best Gamecock race gear (don’t forget your race bib!) will win a Barefoot Outfitters gift card!
