“My decision to attend UofSC was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I’ve attended other universities since [South] Carolina but none have given me the feeling I felt every day when I walked on UofSC’s campus.”

Jarvia Meggett graduated from the University of South Carolina in 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts in Public Health.  She then went on to earn her Master of Public Health from the University of Michigan and is currently pursuing her Master of Science in Nursing at Johns Hopkins University, where she is also a Research Assistant. A voracious learner with multiple degrees all from different schools, Jarvia has always felt most at home at UofSC.

During her time at South Carolina, Jarvia was very involved on campus. She was a member of Student Government and the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). She was also a Manager for the Women’s Basketball team. Furthermore, Jarvia was in the Opportunity Scholars Program and was a McNair Scholar. In addition to her student organization involvement, Jarvia loved her UofSC experience because of the people she interacted with.

“I had professors who genuinely cared about me. I developed a new family at [South] Carolina.”

When asked what motivated her to serve on the University of South Carolina’s Young Alumni Council, Jarvia explained it was because of her tremendous love for the University.

“I’m so passionate about this great University. I want alumni to experience the great things that come along with being a part of the UofSC family.”
