Volunteer Spotlight: Scott Gupton

young alumni

By: Haven Spanyer

Meet Scott Gupton, the immediate Past Chair of the University of South Carolina Alumni Association’s Young Alumni Council.  Scott is a 2009 UofSC graduate.

When considering which institutions to apply to, the reputation of the business school caught Scott’s attention.  Scott ultimately made the decision to attend UofSC because of the prestigious reputation of the Darla Moore School of Business.  While attending South Carolina, Scott studied marketing and management.  He also was involved with Kappa Alpha Order and the UofSC Chapter of Ducks Unlimited.

Now as a UofSC alumnus, Scott works as a Wealth Management Advisor at Northwestern Mutual.

Scott continues to stay involved with his Alma Mater by serving as Past Chair of UofSC’s Young Alumni Council.  The Young Alumni Council (YAC) exists to connect recent UofSC graduates with other young alumni in their area.  YAC is always striving to help advance the careers and passions of fellow young alumni, and of course, their University of South Carolina.

“I wanted to find a way to give back while serving with like-minded individuals,” Scott shared.

Scott continues to give back to South Carolina because, simply put, UofSC is home.
